The engagement, stage by stage

How we work.

What happens at each stage, what you receive, and which decisions are yours. Every stage is scoped and priced before it begins, and everything we produce is transferred to you as it is completed.

Before stage 01First meeting

An initial conversation

We discuss the mandate and the assets within your group a new venture could draw on, such as distribution, customer relationships, licences and data. Our commercial terms are shared in full at this meeting. If the fit is not right, the matter ends there, in confidence.

Stage 01DiscoverAbout 2 weeks

Opportunity Scan

Interviews with leadership and operating managers, a review of the assets a venture could inherit, and a screen of the market against each opening identified. You receive a written view of the opportunities worth testing, in order of priority, and those we advise against.

Gate 01You choose which opportunities, if any, proceed to validation. The work remains yours in either case.
Stage 02Validate2–3 weeks per opportunity

Validation Sprint

A working prototype is placed in front of prospective customers and pricing is tested rather than assumed. The sprint ends with our recommendation in writing, covering the customer evidence, the unit economics, and whether we believe your capital should build this.

Gate 02Proceed, stop, or re-scope. The decision is yours.
Stage 03Build3–10 weeks

Venture Build

A senior product and engineering team builds the product to enterprise standard in your own cloud environment, with security, integration and local data requirements designed in from the start. Your product owner works inside the team from the first week. You receive a short written report each week and everything we produce is transferred to you as it is completed.

Gate 03You judge launch readiness, against criteria agreed before the build began.
Stage 04Operate3–6 months

Venture Operations and Transfer

We run the venture through its first commercial phase, report against targets agreed before launch, and help recruit and prepare its permanent team. At transfer you hold an operating company, its team and its documentation, with the option of ongoing support.

TransferAn operating business, its team and its documentation, owned by you.

Durations are indicative. Each stage is scoped and priced before it begins.

What you can expect

Terms before each stage. A decision after each one.

Terms agreed up front

Scope, deliverables and a fixed fee, in writing, before each stage

Our commercial terms are shared in full at the first meeting.

A written recommendation

What we find, including when the answer is not to proceed

Customer evidence, unit economics and competitive position, before capital is committed.

Owned by you

Everything we produce is assigned to you as it is completed

Our fees carry no equity. At transfer you hold an operating business and its team.

From your side

The involvement we ask of you.

The engagement is designed to draw on your organisation without occupying it.

Throughout

An executive sponsor

A senior sponsor from your side, available a few hours a week for direction and decisions at each gate.

During the opportunity scan

Access to your operating managers

Interviews with the people who run your operations, so the opportunities we screen are drawn from the assets your group actually holds.

Once a build begins

A product owner

A product owner from your side working inside the team, from the first week to the transfer.
